Design Engineer

The Company’s engineers are the minds behind our success, and Mack is currently looking for a design engineer to plan and direct complex engineering design and development projects through all phases of innovation and development.
A design engineer at Mack you will work with internal and external customers to generate and modify designs for functional and manufacturing requirements. Successful candidates will have the ability to operate and understand, as well as communicate, results from structural FEA software and moldflow simulations. Responsibilities include generating and interpreting 2D print, associated tolerance stack up analyses and GD&T; understanding and selecting plastic materials for manufacturing and functional requirements; and developing new tools and designs, as well as overseeing the modification of existing tools, jigs, fixtures and machines that must meet specialized design and performance specifications. Additionally, the design engineer provides engineering support, work direction and technical expertise to lower-level department personnel; analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data relating to product design; and performs various customer service and project management activities, assuring Mack achieves its mission of achieving Total Customer Satisfaction. Further responsibilities include providing engineering support during samplings from preparation through follow-up; interfacing with manufacturing regarding design and engineering issues; and managing critical information, including blueprints, production print check sheets, engineering change orders and other correspondence.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, along with three to five years of experience in engineering and/or design. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. To perform this job successfully, candidates should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, development, design, CAD and project management software, along with order processing systems.
