POSITION INFORMATION

JOB TITLE:                  Quality Assurance Supervisor

DEPARTMENT:          Royalton Operations

REPORTS TO:             Quality Manager – Direct; Production Manager - Indirect

COMPENSATION:      Competitive based on experience

DESCRIPTION:

·      Supervise, Organize, and Coordinate the efforts of the In-Process Inspectors, Manufacturing Quality Technicians, Quality Assurance Technicians, and Finished Goods Specialists on a daily basis to ensure that documented processes are followed to produce components to customer specifications.

·      Provide leadership by ensuring support to manufacturing in the areas of communication, teamwork, resolution of Adjustment Requests, and all product quality concerns, employee support, and on-going training.

·      This position has the direct responsibility to ensure that the product manufactured, packaged, and shipped to our customers conforms to all the established Quality Assurance Requirements. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Supervision for all In-Process Inspectors, Manufacturing Quality Technicians, Quality Assurance Technicians, and Finished Goods Specialists performing work at each machine/work cell, organizing workflow and coordinating efforts to meet the priorities laid out by the Plant Manager and Quality Manager.

·      Supervise shift employees and manage the performance process, including conducting on-going training and reinforcement, performance reviews, and disciplinary action as needed.

·      Ensure smooth transition between all shifts through the effective communication of information, via “Stand Up” Shift Meetings and Shift Reports.

·      Ensure all Quality Assurance Requirements (QAR) are being followed and met during the shift by both IPI’s and QAT’s.

    • Approves or rejects visual inspections using the QAR and General Appearance Samples (GAS) for all Start-ups and Restarts.

    • Approves all Line Clearances during Start-ups and Restarts.

    • Personally handle all Adjustment Request forms, acting as the liaison between the QAT and the Process Technicians and work with the Process Technicians/QAT’s to bring the process back into a state of control.

    • Follow the defined escalation process as required to ensure good decisions are made as to whether we run or shut down a press.

    • Perform visual 5S audits during routine machine audits and report deficiencies to the responsible party for immediate or long-term resolution, as needed.

·      Interface with the IPI’s, QAT’s, Materials, and Production personnel to ensure efficient resolution of problems, maintenance of the highest level of part quality, and minimal machine downtime.

·      Ensure that written communication of recurring problems not being addressed is forwarded to management.

·      Review shift Hold tags for any nonconforming items; ensure complete containment and segregation from conforming goods.

·      Report safety hazards to the Process Technician, Maintenance, and/or plant management.

·      Maintain housekeeping and organization of the entire production floor.

·      Support and follow company safety rules, procedures, and policies while maintaining a clean and orderly work area.

·      Display a supportive (firm, but fair) and positive attitude toward all peers and direct reports.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·      An Associates or bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent in work experience, is required.

·      Experience in manufacturing is preferred, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to find root cause regarding operational issues.

·      Must have demonstrated teaching skills, with a desire and the ability to train others to understand and follow quality systems and procedures.

·      Strong leadership skills and experience supervising others in a manufacturing environment desirable.

·      Previous quality control experience is preferred.

·      Working knowledge of measuring equipment, basic math skills, and use of visual standards to make quality decisions is required.

·      Knowledge of data collection and some Statistical Quality/Process Control is preferred.

·      Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as customer prints, safety rules, written instructions, and operating procedures. 

·      Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.

·      Good organizational skills are required.

·      Must have the flexibility to work additional hours and weekends when necessary.

·      Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

·      Open to execute other duties as assigned.
