Director of Sales - Thermally Modified Wood – Remote

Our client is a highly progressive and team oriented organization with a rapidly growing national sales and brokerage business.   The Director of Sales will be a key member of the brokerage operation and lead further business expansion into the thermally modified wood (TMW) and kiln dried after treatment (KDAT) market segments. These markets are experiencing a 5.5% year-over-year growth, which is expected to continue well into 2030 and beyond.  Our client prides themselves on innovation, strategic expansion, and an exceptionally empowered team environment. 

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Sales to spearhead their business development initiatives for their ThermaPro product line, expand their sales organization, participate in and oversee strategic planning and be responsible for execution.  This remote position is integral to driving their strategic sales and marketing objectives, fostering growth, and enhancing their presence in the national TMW/KDAT markets and beyond.  The successful candidate will have experience in growing a sales organization that serves the following market segments and their channels of distribution:

●      Exterior applications, including decking, siding and fencing.

●      Interior applications, including flooring, wall paneling and specialty furniture.

●      Other peripheral industries, such as window and door frames, stairs, saunas and others.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

●      Develop, drive and execute the company’s business development strategy to achieve growth and profitability targets.

●      Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities and strategic partnerships.

●      Expand the company's footprint through proactive sales and marketing initiatives.

 

Sales Organization Development:

●      Lead and develop a high-performing sales team, currently composed of 3-5 employees plus contractors and sales reps.

●      Foster a culture of success through mentoring and team building.

●      Strategize and implement effective sales processes to enhance organizational growth.

 

Market Strategy & Expansion:

●      Develop and execute marketing strategies.

●      Identify and participate in key national and international industry trade shows and organizations.

●      Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, competitors, and emerging opportunities within the market.

 

Leadership & Mentorship:

●      Demonstrate a proven track record of building and leading successful sales teams.

●      Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to sales personnel, fostering a collaborative and motivating environment.

 

 

 

Travel & Remote Work:

●      This is a remote position with occasional travel to support key accounts, sales initiatives, and industry events.

●      Engage with key clients and stakeholders to enhance business relationships and drive sales and growth opportunities.

 

Willing to make a 5+ year commitment.

 

Qualifications:

Experience:

●      Minimum of 10 years of sales in the sale/distribution of lumber products.

●      Experience in a start-up/small entrepreneurial environment.

●      Comfortable creating tools, structure, processes where none may exist yet.

●      Experience in segmenting a new market and identifying sales strategies for various types of products.

●      Demonstrated success while working remotely in driving year-over-year sales increases and meeting/exceeding strategic objectives.

●      Proven ability to lead, develop and mentor a high performing and collaborative sales team of employees and contractors.

●      Stable work history with strong references.

 

Skills:

●      Creating compelling sales tools, processes and collateral materials.

●      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

●      Proficiency in leveraging market insights and trends to drive business growth.

 

Education:

●      Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field or comparable successful and demonstrated real life experience.
